The branch office of the Ministry of Education in the Central region awarded 434 students and 11 schools who scored excellent grades in the national junior level examinations.
Asmara, 20 February 2011 – The branch office of the Ministry of Education in the Central region awarded 434 students and 11 schools who scored excellent grades in the national junior level examinations.
Reports indicated that the awardees from 27 junior schools scored above 90% and the schools promoted more than half of their students at an average of 70%.
The students and schools received their awards from the Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom and other government officials.
In a speech he delivered at the occasion, Mr. Semere noted that education is the strongest equipment and that it is part of the major development programs of the Government.
The Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwot, on his part called on parents, teachers and communities to redouble their input in successfully implementing education programs.
Furthermore, the head of the branch office of the Ministry in the Central region, Mr. Girmai Gebrehiwot, explained that 78% out of 13,569 students who participated in the national examinations of 2010 in the Central region passed to the next level, and 434 of them scored above 90%.
