The national symposiums scheduled to be held from February to May in various towns in connection with the 20th anniversary of Independence Day attests to the programs accomplished, the challenges encountered and the achievements registered on the part of the people and the government since liberation, according to the Chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee, Minister Semere Russom.
Asmara, 21 February 2011 – The national symposiums scheduled to be held from February to May in various towns in connection with the 20th anniversary of Independence Day attests to the programs accomplished, the challenges encountered and the achievements registered on the part of the people and the government since liberation, according to the Chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee, Minister Semere Russom.
He highlighted the impressive achievements registered in diverse sectors over the past 20 years and stated that the symposium to be conducted in Asmara, Mendefera, Keren, Barentu and Massawa would focus on these agenda items.
Noting that the necessary preparations have been finalized for the symposiums in which representatives of nationals inside the country and abroad would participate, Mr. Semere pointed out that the role that the youth are expected to play in transforming the nation into the bright future would be among the main agenda items.
Mr. Semere further indicated that the past couple of years constitute a time of challenge and pride, and that ministries and regional administrations are ready to properly depict the challenges encountered and the accomplishments scored by the people and Army members on the basis of the principle of self-reliance. The role of the mass media is quite big for the success of the symposium which is the first of its kind in the country, he added.
