The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe stressed the need for agriculture experts to step up efforts to address shortcomings and raise productivity. He made the statement in a workshop held by the Association of Agricultural Experts under the theme “The Role of Agriculture in Achieving Food Security” from February 22 to 23.
Asmara, 24 February 2011 – The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe stressed the need for agriculture experts to step up efforts to address shortcomings and raise productivity. He made the statement in a workshop held by the Association of Agricultural Experts under the theme “The Role of Agriculture in Achieving Food Security” from February 22 to 23.
The chairperson of the Association, Mr. Mebrahtu Eyasu, said that its main objective is to promote agriculture output and maintain sound ecology, and that the role of experts in achieving food security is important.
The participants held extensive discussions on the provision of crops and fruits, the objective situation of the market, managing reserved water sources as well as conserving soil and water, among others. They also adopted a number of recommendations and suggestions.
