As part of the endeavors to alleviate potable water supply problems, a dam is being constructed in Beguney, Tessenei sub zone at a cost of over 7 million Nakfa.
Tessenei, 28 February 2011- As part of the endeavors to alleviate potable water supply problems, a dam is being constructed in Beguney, Tessenei sub-zone at a cost of over 7 million Nakfa.
Speaking about the project, an irrigation farming expert, Mr. Iyob Solomon indicated that following completion, the dam will enable the cultivation of over 400 hectares of land in addition to providing supply of drinking water. He further pointed out that the inhabitants of Beguney and Mai-Weini, who are the immediate beneficiaries of the project, are making due contribution to facilitate the completion of the construction process.
The head of the Beguney dam project at the Bidho construction company, Mr. Beletsom Embaye on his part said that enough machineries have been allocated for the construction process and expressed conviction that it will be completed in due time.
Beguney is located 12 kms to the south of Tessenei town.
