Ministry Of Transport And Communications Symposium Underway In Mendefera

The symposium of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in connection with the 20th anniversary of Independence Day was opened in Mendefera under the theme: “Eritrea: 20 Years of Dignity” Mendefera, 2 March 2011 – The symposium of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in connection with the 20th anniversary of Independence Day was opened in Mendefera under the theme: “Eritrea: 20 Years of Dignity”

In a speech he delivered at the symposium, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr. Woldemichael Abraha, gave briefings regarding the history of transport and communications in Eritrea, work accomplishments undertaken sector-by-sector to reconstruct the war-ravaged infrastructure.

He pointed out that the achievements registered in every sphere of the Ministry considering the limited time and resources have been satisfactory, and that there are plans to implement well-studied projects in the future. The Minister also said that upgrading human power, introducing advanced equipments to ensure human and property safety and conducting campaigns are some of its main tasks for the future.
During the course of the symposium, work assessment of land, sea and railway transport as well as the civil aviation and communications services would be conducted.
