Keren, 9 March 2011 – The endeavors to ensure equitable distribution of educational opportunity in Asneba region are registering encouraging outcome, disclosed the head of the branch office of the Ministry of Education in the region, Mr. Bokretsion Habtemichael.

In a meeting he held in Keren with the heads of education and other institutions in the region, he said that 12 new schools were opened in various area of the region this year, and elementary schools in Tsenat, Dekemhare, Debersina, Aritai and Al-Amel were upgraded to junior schools. On top of this, Kiseri and Halib-Mentel junior schools were promoted to secondary level. 

Mr. Bokretsion indicated that the enrollment of female students in the region is showing progress and called on the society at large and partners to enhance contribution to eradicate illiteracy and achieve the set goals.

Meanwhile, 15 schools have been opened for herders and others who have passed the right for education due to various reasons.

The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Giorgis Girmai, noted the importance of relentless effort to achieve gratifying outcome.
