The National High School Leaving Examination for the year 2011 would be offered from 14 to 19 March both inside the country and abroad, disclosed Dr. Bisrat Gebru, the Director of the National Board of Higher Educational Institutions.
Asmara, 10 March 2011 – The National High School Leaving Examination for the year 2011 would be offered from 14 to 19 March both inside the country and abroad, disclosed Dr. Bisrat Gebru, the Director of the National Board of Higher Educational Institutions.
She said that over 19,645 students out of whom 8,219 are females would participate in this year’s examination, and that the participation of female student has risen by 38% from the previous year.
The Director also indicated that about 17,000 from the total students have been attending their studies in Sawa Warsai-Yikealo School, 1,306 from Asmara Commercial School, Hagaz Agricultural School, Asmara Technical, Don-bosco, Mai-Habar and Wina as well as 162 from Riyadh and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Moreover, 896 examinations would take the examination for the second time.
The exam comprising of 12 subjects would be given in English and Arabic languages, and 57% of the participants are from natural science and the rest are social science students.
Dr. Bisrat explained that after reviewing the yearly examination, the type of questions in Business and economic are the same as the previous year, while questions in general knowledge will be upgraded from 30 to 35 and will be rated from 100.
