The symposium of the Ministry of Health that had been underway since Friday 11 March under the theme, “Eritrea: 20 Years of Dignity”, concluded today.
Asmara, 13 March 2011: The symposium of the Ministry of Health that had been underway since Friday 11 March under the theme, “Eritrea: 20 Years of Dignity”, concluded today.
In the concluding remarks she made, the Minister of Health, Ms. Aman Nurhussien indicated the study papers presented and the flow of ideas during the three days have made the event a success. She went on to express appreciation to all those who contributed for the success of the symposium.
Stating that the Ministry has just finished the journey of 20 years and is embarking on another journey of 20 more years, Ms. Amna pointed out that the ministry has revised its policies and has outlined a five year plan so as to maintain past accomplishments and score new goals. Incubators and other complimentary facilities for premature and underweight babies will soon be provided to all the referral hospitals in the country, she added.
During the three-day symposium which was underway at the Expo Hall, 26 study papers were presented regarding policy implementation in upgrading human resources, laboratory services, drugs production, community and family health, obstetrical services, FGM and its consequences, care for fistula patients, care for newborns and the efforts to control and eradicate communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Moreover, an exhibition depicting the 20 years journey of the ministry was also presented.
