The Eritrean Association of Road Traffic Safety conducted a campaign aimed at promoting traffic clubs and ensuring proper use of pedestrian cross sings for three months in various schools to enhance student’s awareness.
Asmara, 13 March 2011 – The Eritrean Association of Road Traffic Safety conducted a campaign aimed at promoting traffic clubs and ensuring proper use of pedestrian cross sings for three months in various schools to enhance student’s awareness.
Speaking at the end of the campaign, the Director General of Land Transport, Ms. Senait Lijam, noted that the efforts of the Association were fruitful, and expressed conviction that the on-going safety campaign to reduce and control accidents would be successful as it is working at community level.
She called for the continuation of such campaigns to all children and students in all regions, and also for the formation of similar road traffic safety clubs.
The chairperson of the Association, Mr. Girmai Abrehe, pointed out that the lecture was given to over 20,000 students.
Reports indicated that various competitions were carried out to enhance students’ awareness in traffic safety.
Artistic shows depicting use of roads, importance of traffic awareness, consequence of traffic accidents and continuation of traffic campaigns were presented.
