More than 5,000 people from the administrative areas of Shegali, Hawush, Asmat, Orotta, Era and Asneda took part in the popular campaign, according to Mr. Osman Jim’e, coordinator of development activities in the sub-zone. About 60 km-long road running along Taba Aserte-Asneda-Orotta-Era and from Asneda to Rikeb has been repaired thanks to the undertaking.
Noting the active participation of women in the popular campaign, he indicated that the repaired road is now suitable for efficient transport service. Mr. Osman also highlighted the need for bringing about lasting solution to the deteriorating condition of Keren-Asneda dirt road that was constructed a couple of years ago at high expenditure.
The participants said that such campaign is adopted as a culture in the area and stressed the significance of roads especially in remote area.
