Emahmime, 18 March 2011 – Emahmime semi-urban center is registering speedy pace of urbanization thanks to the investment being made by the people and the Government, according to Mr. Saleh Mussa Hamid, the Administrator.
He explained that various socials services, including education, health and potable water supply have been put in place, and that the local inhabitants have built houses on the allotted land plots which enabled the area to experience urbanization.
Mr. Saleh pointed out that in accordance with the master plan, more than 800 land plots have already been put to use for residential and business purposes. Additional 500 plots would also be allotted in the near future, and that the population of the area has increased to 1,677 families, he added.
Moreover, he noted that the construction of building complexes of various service-rendering institutions, offices and well-planned streets are giving added charm to the semi-urban center. Families that used to lead nomadic way of life in scattered areas of Krora and Nacfa sub-zones are also being regrouped in Emahmime as a result of the implementation of reliable potable water supply there.
Emahmime semi-urban center which is located about 160 Km. from Afabet has over 100 business enterprises, including hotels, bars and restaurants, as well as bakery and grain grinding machine.
