Administrator outlines tasks accomplished in Assab town

In line with endeavors to improve the provision of potable water supply in Assab town, old water pipelines have been replaced with new ones, according to Mr. Berhane Iyasu, Administrator of the town. He added that over 70% of the town’s revenue was disbursed towards expanding infrastructure facilities and social services.

Assab, 19 March 2011 – In line with endeavors to improve the provision of potable water supply in Assab town, old water pipelines have been replaced with new ones, according to Mr. Berhane Iyasu, Administrator of the town. He added that over 70% of the town’s revenue was disbursed towards expanding infrastructure facilities and social services.

In a meeting with the town’s council, Mr. Berhane pointed out that vocational training program was given to 20 students, while full school materials were extended to 337 needy students. Besides, financial assistance has been extended to disabled citizens.

Outlining the tasks undertaken by community magistrates in settling disputes through reconciliation and verdict, he indicated that village banks have extended over 4 million Nakfa in loan to 798 nationals which is making due contribution in improving their living standard.

Mr. Berhane further stressed the need for exerting more efforts to promote student participation in education and urged the people to pay tax on time so as to boost the revenue of the town.

The secretary of the Assab City Council, Mr. Kiros Teklehaimanot, explained that public complaints put forth to the town administration via the council have been addressed, and called on the general public to step up participation in the development drive.
