Inhabitants of Danba and Adi-Kerets undertaking soil and water conservation activities

The inhabitants of Danba and Adi-Kerets, Dekemhare sub-zone, are carrying out soil and water conservation activities, in addition to other agricultural activities.
Dekemhare, 21 March 2011 – The inhabitants of Danba and Adi-Kerets, Dekemhare sub-zone, are carrying out soil and water conservation activities, in addition to other agricultural activities.

The local inhabitants also constructed a water reservoir and a library with two rooms through employing their labor and money.

The Administrator of Damba, Mr. Tekle Tekeste, told ERINA that the inhabitants are undertaking land leveling and terracing activities with close collaboration of agricultural experts.

Mr. Idris Mohammed, expert in soil and water conservation in the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, said that encouraged with the fruitful outcome of terracing activities last  year, the local inhabitants are stepping up such activities. He explained that the inhabitants of the two localities have so far managed to level over 20 hectares.

Damba administrative area is located 17 Km. west of Dekemhare town.
