Modern container scanner device installed in Massawa Port

In continuation of the improvements being made in the work methodology of the Customs Duty Department, an advanced container scanner device has been installed in Massawa Port that would be used for detecting containers. Massawa, 21 March 2011 – In continuation of the improvements being made in the work methodology of the Customs Duty Department, an advanced container scanner device has been installed in Massawa Port that would be used for detecting containers. 

The director general of the Department, Mr. Fisehaye Haile, stated that the installation of the modern device is an integral part of the endeavors being made to upgrade work performance. He further pointed out that the fixed and mobile scanner is essential in detecting the properties in a given container without opening it. Mr. Fisehaye also  stressed the significance of the new device in rendering speedy and efficient service.

The manager of the Customs Duty branch in Massawa, Mr. Issa Abdalla, said on his part that previously huge manpower and time used to be needed for inspecting containers as it was accomplished through human labor. The newly installed container scanner would now relieve staff members of such burdens and contribute to efficient work performance, he added.

There are also plans to provide training to staff members on the application and maintenance of the device, according to reports.
