Vigorous endeavors underway to achieve food security in Krora sub-zone

Vigorous endeavors are being exerted in Krora sub-zone to achieve food security through the effective harnessing of available agricultural potentials, according to Mr. Mohammed Seid Omar, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone.

Krora, 22 March 2011 – Vigorous endeavors are being exerted in Krora sub-zone to achieve food security through the effective harnessing of available agricultural potentials, according to Mr. Mohammed Seid Omar, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone.

Accordingly, 1,400 meter-long water catchments have been constructed with a view to diverting the waters of the Felket stream to farmlands in Mel’iet plains. He further stated that more than 2,400 people are taking active participation in the undertaking.

Moreover, Mr. Mohammed explained that select seeds have been distributed to farmers so as to promote vegetables farming along the banks of the Felket stream. Indicating that the awareness of the farmers regarding agriculture is gaining momentum, he noted that the products of farmers are now stabilizing the markets of Emahmime and Krora.
