Begu, 24 March 2011 – A total of 9 water reservoirs have been constructed in Begu administrative area, Keren sub-zone, at a cost of over 5 million Nakfa.
The reservoirs constructed through the coordinated efforts of the Anseba regional Administration, the general public and partners are expected to ease potable supply problem of 10 villages, besides enriching underground water resource, according to Eng. Zeregabir Hidrai, head of infrastructure development in the region.
He commended the active participation of the local inhabitants in the undertakings and added that the latest water reservoirs are somewhat qualitative compared to the previously constructed ones.
The local inhabitants said that they used to travel for about 10 kilometers to fetch water, especially during the dry season. Such problem would now be no more thanks to the construction of the water reservoirs, they added.
