Agordat, 25 March 2011 – Exemplary vegetable farmers in Gash-Barka region said that working relentlessly gives utmost moral and health satisfaction.
Mr. Mustafa Mohammed Saleh, owner of vegetable farm in Kor’obel, Agordat sub-zone, explained that the activities that he began in limited capacity many year ago has now been expanded to 12 hectares ,which in turn enabled him to lead much improved lifestyle.
He further stated that he gives close attention to soil conservation and fertility, above the profit earned. Mr. Mustafa said that he has planted several trees along the banks of Barka River with a view to preventing soil erosion.
Another vegetable farmer, Mr. Woldemichael Gebremeskel, said that at present he is in a position to obtain harvest twice a year from 150 hectares. Besides, he owns over 200 goats and 90 cattle.
The exemplary farmers expressed appreciation to the conducive ground that the Government has put in place.
