The inhabitants of Firdgi in Begu administrative area stressed the significance of maintaining environmental sanitation in enabling them to lead a safe and healthy life.
Begu, 26 March 2011 – The inhabitants of Firdgi in Begu administrative area stressed the significance of maintaining environmental sanitation in enabling them to lead a safe and healthy life.
They explained that previously they used to suffer from various waterborne and communicable diseases due to lack of hygiene resulting from low awareness regarding sanitation. At present, however, their awareness as regards environmental sanitation has been enhanced and making use of toilets.
The inhabitants further noted that the campaign being undertaken by health institutions in the area is playing major role in raising their awareness and putting in place toilets.
The Administrator of Begu, Mr. Eyob Woldeab, said the awareness of the inhabitants in various aspects, especially environmental sanitation is on the rise. The head of malaria control desk in the Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region, Mr. Kiros Sereqe, pointed out on his part that the task of ensuring public health is being given top priority by the Government and that concerted action is being taken to this end.
