The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been handling the affair of “British nationals detained in Eritrea” with utmost prudence and patience. To this end, it has refrained from delving into diplomatic, propaganda, press and PR campaigns. Nor does it intend to depart from this responsible stance and tone.

However, various circles in the United Kingdom and elsewhere are peddling, either knowingly or unknowingly, deceitful “versions” and “explanations” of the episode with the obvious aim of covering up the offences and mistakes that were committed against the country.
