Dekemhare April 15, 2011- The total population of Dekemhare town and the number of residents has made substantial growth as a result of increase in services and the implementation of infrastructures projects over the past 20 years.
According to data from the technical department of the town, its total area which stood only at 325 hectares in 1991 has now increased to 1,197 hectares. Besides, more than 3,000 residential complexes have been built, as well as a modern hospital, college and modern bus terminal, among others.
The head of social services in Dekemhare sub-zone, Mr. Assefaw Turkai further explained that the population of the town to the tune of 12,000 in 1991 has presently reached 31,000. There are also ongoing efforts to step up access to social services commensurate with the marked growth of urban residents in Dekemhare, he added.
