Tessenei April 21, 2011- Endeavors being undertaken by the Government in the educational sector are registering encouraging outcome, the Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom underlined.
In a meeting he conducted with Parent-Teacher Associations in the region, the Minister noted the importance of producing human capital equipped with technical and vocational skills. He further explained that the Government has been working tirelessly since Independence to ensure access to quality education, especially in remote areas, and that commendable outcome has been registered through the establishment of student-centered teaching.
Mr. Semere also indicated that 45% of the nation’s total budget has been allocated for education in a bid to develop competitive youths has been one of the major priorities. As a result, the number of colleges has increased to 8 and over 200 schools have been built in the past 2 years alone, he added.
The Minister further underscored that the existing schools and training centers are making significant contribution towards the development of competent teachers, as well as skilled youths.
