Expansion of health service in Anseba region described commendable

Keren, 23 April 2011 – The substantial investment made in Anseba region to expand reliable health service over the past 20 years played major role in enabling nationals lead stable and better lifestyle, stated Mr. Zekarias Ogbasilasie, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the region.

He explained that the number of health institutions in the region has increased by 500%, and that fruitful outcome has been registered as regards controlling various diseases and reducing mother and child mortality rate. 

Noting that the health institutions constructed in remote areas on priority basis have been equipped with the necessary modern equipments, Mr. Zekarias pointed out that the work load previously witnessed in Keren Hospital has now been tackled. Solar-energy devices have also been installed in various health institutions aimed at properly storing medicaments, and that coverage of vaccination programs has shown a growth of 775% , he elaborated.

Mr. Zekarias further indicated that the awareness of the society regarding various diseases and disability is gaining momentum, in addition to promoting environmental sanitation.
