Ministry of Public Works accomplished significant tasks in surveying and master planning

The Ministry of Public Works has registered commendable outcome in surveying and master planning activities over the past 20 years. Asmara, April 25, 2011- The Ministry of Public Works has registered commendable outcome in surveying and master planning activities over the past 20 years, according to the director general of Urban Planning and Surveying, Mr. Medhanie Estifanos.
He pointed out that over 160 projects spanning 37 thousand hectares have been implemented and 156 thousand land plots identified and distributed to nationals.  Mr. Medhanie also indicated that presently survey studies have been finalized in 10 cities and residential areas in a position to accommodate over 1,000 families are in the process of construction.
Noting that urban master planning is essential for social, economic and cultural growth, the director general pointed out that efforts are underway to develop human resource capacity through demographic studies and statistical analysis.
