Adult Education Program showed a growth of 74% in Anseba region as a result of the vigorous endeavors exerted over the past 20 years to eradicate illiteracy, stated Ms. Abrehet Gebre, head of the Program in the Education Ministry’s branch in the region. Keren, 27 April 2011 – Adult Education Program showed a growth of 74% in Anseba region as a result of the vigorous endeavors exerted over the past 20 years to eradicate illiteracy, stated Ms. Abrehet Gebre, head of the Program in the Education Ministry’s branch in the region.
She explained that tangible outcome has been registered as regards expanding equitable educational opportunity in all parts of the country. A number of illiterate nationals are now able to read and write thanks to the program, Ms. Abrehet added.
Reports indicated that there are 260 stations in the region providing adult education to more than 13,000 citizens. Besides, there exist 19 stations providing educational opportunity to children who were deprived of such opportunity due to nomadic way of living and remoteness in the sub-zones of Geleb, Habero, Halhal, Hamelmalo, Asmat, Hagaz, Kerkebet and Elabered. Over 2,000 students are presently attending classes.
