Development programs implemented in Anseba region

Keren, May 3, 2011- Various development undertakings were carried out in the course of the past 20 years disclosed Mr. Gergis Girmai, Administrator of Anseba region.
In an interview he gave in connection with the forthcoming symposium of the region, the Administrator explained that the investment made over the past 20 years in the educationsector has borne fruitful outcome. He further indicated that the number of students and female participation in education have witnessed marked increase.  
As regards agricultural development, Mr. Gergis stated that significant achievements have been registered and that over 1,500 hectares have been put under cultivation. He further stated that over 70% of the region’s population has got access to potable water supply.
The Administrator also indicated that effective work has been accomplished as regards grouping of villages in the region, and that master plans for urban development are being drawn up.
Moreover, the Administrator lauded the participation of the inhabitants of the region in soil and water conservation endeavors.
