As part of the extensive preparations being made to colorfully celebrate the 20th anniversary of Independence Day, a freedom torch which is in the process of a tour to all sub-zones of Southern region is being received with enthusiastic cheer on the part of the public in the respective areas.
Dekemhare, 11 May 2011 – As part of the extensive preparations being made to colorfully celebrate the 20th anniversary of Independence Day, a freedom torch which is in the process of a tour to all sub-zones of Southern region is being received with enthusiastic cheer on the part of the public in the respective areas.
The torch that started from Serha semi-urban center on May 2 accompanied with the symbol of knowledge and heroism has so far passed through Adi-Keih, Kuatit, Tsorona, Mai-Mine, Engela and Segeneiti, and eventually reaching Dekemhare town amid popular cheers.
The people said that the freedom torch symbolizes the demise of colonial rule and the promising prospects of a free nation.
The torch that has so far covered a distance of 261 kilometers would ultimately reach Mendefera sub-zone through crossing the sub-zones of Dubarwa, Areza, Mai-Mine, Adi-Quala and Emni-Haili.
