Asmara, 11 May 2011 – The residents of Denden Camp conducted walk to the historic Adi-Yakob trenches in connection with the 20th anniversary of Independence Day.
They indicated that the program is aimed at familiarizing their children with the heroic feats demonstrated by their forefathers in the struggle for independence.
Also on the accession, veteran fighters and members of mass organizations who personally participated in the wars that took place in Adi-Yakob trenches 34 years ago narrated the heroic exploits and patriotism of freedom fighters, as well as their social life.
Earlier, a seminar aimed at enhancing the capacity of youths in reinforcing the cherished societal values and raising their awareness was conducted, in addition to general knowledge contest and literary recitals in different nationality.
Meanwhile, an Eritrean national, Leul Goitom, is traveling on foot on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Independence Day beginning from Omhajer on May 3. He has already crossed Gergef, Golij, Tessenei, Haikota and Sawa Military Camp, and is expected to arrive in Asmara on May 17.
