Asmara, 12 May 2011 – The department of infrastructure in the Central region has implemented major projects so as to expand and provide reliable social services in the rural area general and Asmara in particular, according to Architect Tesfalem Woldemichael.
In an interview he conducted in connection with the symposium of the Central region, he said that master plans for most of villages in the region have been drafted. The villages are growing as a result of the provision of basic social services and transport facilities, he added.
Architect Tesfalem further indicated that road construction, installation of water and sewage pipelines, as well as preserving ancient buildings are some of the tasks accomplished over the past 20 years. He explained that conducting research as regards the drafting of master plans is among the future work programs of the department.
