Southern Region: Preparations To Stage Carnival Finalized

Preparations to stage  a regional carnival in Southern region in connection with the 20th anniversary of Independence Day celebrations have been finalized, according to Mr. Hager Ganzai, member of the holidays coordinating committee in the region. Mendefera, 13 May 2011 – Preparations to stage  a regional carnival in Southern region in connection with the 20th anniversary of Independence Day celebrations have been finalized, according to Mr. Hager Ganzai, member of the holidays coordinating committee in the region.

He explained that this year’s carnival in the region is special as dramas and documentary films are set to be presented in the evening hours in the streets of Mendefera town. Mr. Hager further indicated that various cultural troupes of the region are staging musical performance since May 10.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that permanent torches would be lit up in 20 elevated places in the region as of May 20, in addition to the staging of arts exhibition in 7 towns and traditional contests in all sub-zones.
