The Symposium of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare that was held from May 12 to 14 under the theme: “Eritrea: 20 Years of Dignity” concluded today.
Asmara, 14 May 2011 – The Symposium of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare that was held from May 12 to 14 under the theme: “Eritrea: 20 Years of Dignity” concluded today.
Speaking at the closing session, the Minister of Labor and Human Welfare, Ms. Selma Hassen, stated that the symposium served as a platform for assessing the weak and strong sides of the Ministry, in addition to raising the awareness of the participants.
She further indicated that the task of mitigating social problems and assisting families of martyrs and needy nationals is not the obligation of the Ministry alone but the entire society. Ms. Selma pointed out that the Ministry is working diligently through mapping out strategy for 2012-2017.
Various study papers were presented at the symposium focusing on labor management and the challenges encountered, promoting social security, activities carried out to support families of fallen heroes and the like.
The major aspects of the future action plan of the Ministry include the drafting of policies, issuing the necessary regulations and directives as regards employment and improving the socio-economic standard of martyrs’ families, among others.
