Massawa, May 22, 2011- A photographic exhibition in connection with the ongoing celebrations of Independence Day has opened up in Massawa.
The exhibition, which is being staged in connection with the 20th anniversary of Independence, was opened by the chairman of the Southern Red Sea region assembly, Mr. Mohammed Ali and comprises pictures portraying the way of life in the days of the armed struggle, 20-year journey of independence and the nation’s tourism and marine potentials.
The exhibition won broad acclaim on the part of spectators as it gave color to the celebrations, beyond highlighting the achievements of the past 20 years and the accomplishments registered so far.
Meanwhile, artists who came to Eritrea to take part in the ongoing celebrations have lauded the development endeavors carried out in the port city of Massawa.
Speaking to Erina, one of the founders of Umoja, a South African musical group, Ms. Twala Luwela said that she’s been to lots of nations, but she’s never seen anything like Eritrea and its people.
Also, members of EriAm sisters, Salina and Lyanda Abraha said that they’ve been to Hawaii, but Massawa is much better.
