Afabet sub-zone celebrates Independence Day in patriotic spirit

The inhabitants of Afabet sub-zone celebrated the 20th anniversary of Independence Day under the theme: “Perfect Harmony for National Dignity” in patriotic spirit. Afabet, 23 May 2011 – The inhabitants of Afabet sub-zone celebrated the 20th anniversary of Independence Day under the theme: “Perfect Harmony for National Dignity” in patriotic spirit.

In continuation of the celebrations underway in the administrative areas of Kilamet, Felket, Gadim-Halib and Kam-Chuwa since May 13, an official celebration was conducted on May 20 at the sub-zonal level. Various programs, including cultural and sports activities, as well as other shows highlighting the hardship traversed in the days of the armed struggle and the patriotism demonstrated in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and enhancing the development drive featured on the occasion.

Speaking at the celebrations, the Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Abdu Mohammed Telke, pointed out that Independence Day reminds us all to renew our pledge and commitment in honoring the trust of martyrs.

Villages elders said on their part that the visible development accomplishments registered over the past 20 years on the basis of internal capacity fully attest to the dedication and self-reliant nature of the Eritrean people.
