Colorful Independence Day Celebrations Attest To Success Of 20-Year Journey, Say Kerkebet Inhabitants

The inhabitants of Kerkebet sub-zone said that the colorful celebrations of Independence Day amply demonstrate the success registered in the 20-year journey. Kerkebet, 25 May 2011 – The inhabitants of Kerkebet sub-zone said that the colorful celebrations of Independence Day amply demonstrate the success registered in the 20-year journey. The inhabitants of Yakar’e and Himbol administrative areas celebrated the event with great enthusiasm, during which various competitions, pavilion shows, student and army parade took place.

Similar celebrations were also conducted in Hamashid’ba administrative areas in which programs highlighting the culture and lifestyle of the local inhabitants were staged. Independence Day was also celebrated in Amelait semi-urban center through lighting an independence torch.

The Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Humed Ela Ali, explained that in line with the commitment to honor the trust of martyrs, strenuous endeavors are being exerted to ensure social justice and expand equitable social service nationwide.

The head of the PFDJ in the sub-zone, Mr. Jemal Nasir, said on his part that the Eritrean people achieved independence through paying heavy sacrifices and stressed the need to enhance the development drive. 
Meanwhile, the 20th anniversary of Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal in the administrative areas of Filke, Harenait, Dirfa, Atai and Lokaib, according to reports.
