Eritrean citizens in Australia and New Zealand marked the 20th anniversary of Independence Day with colorful celebrations.
Asmara, 25 May 2011 – Eritrean citizens in Australia and New Zealand marked the 20th anniversary of Independence Day with colorful celebrations.
Sports activities, dramas, musical performance and other cultural shows featured on the occasion that gave added color to the event.
The Eritrean Consul General to Australia and New Zealand, Mr. Beshir Idris, noted the tasks undertaken over the past years since independence and the challenges encountered. In this respect, he indicated that Eritrea has become an island of peace and stability, besides being exemplary to neighboring countries for the self-reliance and peaceful co-existence of its people. He further called on the nationals to keep their ranks intact.
Heads of the Eritrean communities in the Australian cities of Brisbane and Perth on their part commended the active participation of the nationals in the celebrations.
