Forto-Sawa Sub-Zone: Effective Activities Underway To Achieve Food Security

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch office in Forto-Sawa sub-zone is carrying out effective activities towards achieving food security, according to Mr. Ogbe Gebreamlak, head of the branch Forto-Sawa, 27 May 2011 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch office in Forto-Sawa sub-zone is carrying out effective activities towards achieving food security, according to Mr. Ogbe Gebreamlak, head of the branch.

He explained that vigorous efforts were made over the past years focusing on promoting vegetables farming. Also in line with efforts to introduce modern farming methods, the awareness of the farmers regarding  the significance of such a method is on the rise and have already managed to obtain bumper harvest.

The farmers said on their part that the sub-zone is suitable for cultivation and would enhance agricultural activities.

Reports indicated that there exist 3,000 hectares in Forto-Sawa sub-zone suitable for crop cultivation and vegetable farming.
