Significant Growth Registered In Health Sector In Northern Red Sea Region

Significant growth has been registered in the development of the health sector in the Northern Red Sea region thanks to the coordinated endeavors made over the past 20 years, stated Mr. Abraham Yemane, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the region. Massawa, 27 May 2011 – Significant growth has been registered in the development of the health sector in the Northern Red Sea region thanks to the coordinated endeavors made over the past 20 years, stated Mr. Abraham Yemane, head of the Health Ministry’s branch in the region.

He told ERINA that taking into account the landscape and climate of the region, the Government has constructed a regional referral hospital, 5 hospitals, 22 health stations, over 10 health centers and 10 clinics in the region. A 24-hour solar power has also been installed in such health institutions that enable them to render better service.

Mr. Abraham further indicated that basic health education program has been offered to more than 1,500 volunteers along with equipping them with basic medical utensils. He stated that the health institutions continue to register improvement and are carrying out various activities, including successful eye and other surgeries.
