Women farmers below Dirco Dam striving to boost production

Women in Emni-Haili sub-zone who are engaged in farming activities below the Dirco Dam at group level are striving to boost production.
Emni-Haili, 28 May 2011 – Women in Emni-Haili sub-zone who are engaged in farming activities below the Dirco Dam at group level are striving to boost production.

The women told ERINA that the Government has provided them with fertile land along with modern irrigation system, and that they are in a position to harvest three times a year.

They further explained that they are able to stabilize the local market, beyond fulfilling the needs of their families. In this connection, they expressed appreciation to the all-round assistance extended to them.

The 20-hectare drip irrigation farming project in Emni-Haili sub-zone implemented at a cost of 6 million Nakfa jointly by the Southern regional Administration and partners was distributed to 105 martyrs’ wives and needy women in 2010.
