Eritrean citizens living in different parts of the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe and America celebrated the 20th anniversary of Independence Day with patriotic spirit under the banner theme “Perfect Harmony… For National Dignity.” Asmara, May 31, 2011- Eritrean citizens living in different parts of the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe and America celebrated the 20th anniversary of Independence Day with patriotic spirit under the banner theme “Perfect Harmony… For National Dignity.”
Accordingly, the Eritrean Community in the UK and Ireland conducted colorful celebrations. Speaking at the ceremony, the Eritrean to the UK and Ireland, Mr. Tesfamichael Gerahtu said that Eritrea has stood firm against all odds posed while at the same time making significant achievements in development endeavors.
Similarly, Eritreans in Paris, Rome and Yutobori, Qatar, Abu-Dhabi, Jeddah, South Sudan, Switzerland and Angola respectively celebrated the 20th anniversary of Independence Day with the same patriotic spirit.
Moreover, Eritreans in Abu-Dhabi and its environs celebrated the great Day through organizing colorful celebrations, during which they expressed pride and satisfaction with the development accomplishments registered so far. Speaking at the event, Mr. Mohammed Nafi’e, from the Embassy said that thanks to the development endeavors carried out to-date, a bright horizon is in place.
Likewise, Eritrean nationals living in Angola celebrated the event with great enthusiasm and presented programs portraying the major political, economic, social and cultural accomplishments. A musical group “Keih Meriet”, that travelled to Angola from Eritrea performed .
The Ambassador of Eritrea in the Republic of South Africa and southern Africa, Mr. Mohammed Omer said on the event that Eritrea stands as an example for many other nations for its achievements in the struggle for independence as well as in the nation-building process.
Similarly, according to reports, nationals living in the United States of America also celebrated the event colorfully.
Eritrean nationals residing in Italy also celebrated the 20th anniversary of Independence Day with patriotic spirit. Speaking at the celebrations held in Rome, Ambassador Zemede Tekle spoke on the importance May 24.
Similarly, the Eritrean residents of Qatar celebrated Independence Day in a patriotic spirit. In the celebrations in which the Eritrean foreign minister, Mr. Osman Saleh and the head of political affairs of the PFDJ, Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Eritreans and friends of Eritrea participated, the Eritrean Ambassador to Qatar, Mr. Ali Ibrahim, stated that the Eritrean people are standing on a promising stage through rebuffing multiple acts of hostility. In this connection, he indicated that major tasks were undertaken over the past 20 years that lay solid ground for building a prosperous nation.
Meanwhile, nationals residing in South Sudan commemorated the Day in a colorful manner.
