Development Activities To Be Stepped Up In Nacfa Sub-Zone

The inhabitants of Nacfa sub-zone voiced determination to reinforce soil and water conservation activities, besides combating desertification and backing up development endeavors. Nacfa, 1 June 2011 – The inhabitants of Nacfa sub-zone voiced determination to reinforce soil and water conservation activities, besides combating desertification and backing up development endeavors.

They explained that forestry resource in the sub-zone was completely destroyed due to persistent wars in the days of the armed struggle for independence. In this connection, the inhabitants pledged to work hand-in-hand with the Government in restoring the vegetation.

The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Mohammed Ali Saleh, stated that over 2,000 holes have been dug and would be planted with different tree seedlings. Over 28 km-long terraces and 10 km-long embankments, as well as over 10 water reservoirs and water catchments have also been constructed through popular campaign, he added.

Mr. Mohammed further noted that the reserve land in Baqla administrative area has now been covered with forests and that wildlife resource is flourishing.
