Potable Water Supply Project And Electricity Service Inaugurated In Defere

The newly implemented potable water supply project and electricity service in Defere administrative area, Serejeka sub-zone, has been inaugurated. The head of economic development in the Central region, Mr. Yemane Abai, and the manager of electricity distribution in the Eritrean Electricity Corporation, Eng. Abraham Berhe, inaugurated the facilities.

Serejeka, 3 June 2011 – The newly implemented potable water supply project and electricity service in Defere administrative area, Serejeka sub-zone, has been inaugurated. The head of economic development in the Central region, Mr. Yemane Abai, and the manager of electricity distribution in the Eritrean Electricity Corporation, Eng. Abraham Berhe, inaugurated the facilities.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Administrator of the area, Mr. Mehari Mebrahtu, expressed appreciation with the implementation of the project.

Mr. Yemane Abai said on his part that the newly installed electricity and potable water supply project is part and parcel of the ongoing endeavors to ensure social justice. In this connection, he indicated that over 95% of the population in the Central region has now access to reliable and sufficient potable water supply. 

Likewise, Eng. Abraham Berhe explained that the Government’s investment to narrow the urban-rural gap is playing significant role in improving the socio-economic wellbeing of nationals. He further stressed the paramount importance of power supply in upgrading the lifestyle of the local inhabitants.

Village elders of the area expressed satisfaction with the newly introduced service which attests to the commitment of the Government.
