Anseba region: Efforts to ensure mother and child care bearing fruitful outcome

In line with efforts made over the past 20 years to ensure mother and child care in Anseba region, 80% of  mothers received pre-delivery care in health institutions, according to Mr. Berhane Abraha, head of basic health care in the region.

Keren, 4 June 2011 – In line with efforts made over the past 20 years to ensure mother and child care in Anseba region, 80% of  mothers received pre-delivery care in health institutions, according to Mr. Berhane Abraha, head of basic health care in the region.

He told ERINA that intensive health lectures and campaigns were undertaken to raise public awareness regarding health care. Following extensive vaccination coverage, 85% of various diseases, including measles, polio, branchiate and liver infection, among others have been put under control.

Noting that over 1000 community health volunteers are  undertaking campaign against various diseases, Mr. Berhane pointed out that children under the age of 5 are in reliable health condition as a result of close follow-ups.

Reports indicated that there area 36 health institutions providing better service to the public.
