Government pays 350 million Nakfa in benefit scheme to families of fallen heroes annually

The Government of Eritrea pays 350 million Nakfa in benefit scheme to families of fallen heroes annually, according to Mr. Zerai Tekleab, director general of martyrs’ families welfare office in the Ministry of Labor and human Welfare.

Asmara, 9 June 2011 – The Government of Eritrea pays 350 million Nakfa in benefit scheme to families of fallen heroes annually, according to Mr. Zerai Tekleab, director general of martyrs’ families welfare in the Ministry of Labor and human Welfare.

He told ERINA that the Government began paying the benefit scheme in 2004 in which each family of fallen heroes receives 500 Nakfa per month. So far, it has paid over 2.3 billion Nakfa during the period 2004 to 2011.

Mr. Zerai further indicated that the Ministry has extended branch offices to the sub-zonal level so as to effectively implement its program.  He also explained that the support being extended to families of fallen heroes demonstrates the commitment of the  government and the people to honoring trust of martyrs.
