Judicious utilization of water resource vital for ensuring its sustainability: Report

The representative of infrastructure development department in Gash-Barka region, Mr. Haile Asfaha, stressed the significance of judicious utilization and management of potable water supply in the region so as to guarantee its sustainability.
Barentu, 11 June 2011 – The representative of infrastructure development department in Gash-Barka region, Mr. Haile Asfaha, stressed the significance of judicious utilization and management of potable water supply in the region so as to guarantee its sustainability.

In closing remarks of the training course given to over 70 members of water resource committee from 14 sub-zones of the region, he called on them to work diligently in preserving facilities put in place at substantial expenditure.

The participants of the training emphasized the importance of such course in making good use of the available potable water supply facilities.

Reports indicated that a number of potable waters supply projects have been implemented in the region at the cost of about 700 million Nakfa, and that about 74% of the population has access to potable water supply.
