Keren, 13 June 2011-The head of the Eritrean National War-Disabled Veterans Association branch in Anseba region, Mr. Dawit Gebrekristos, said that the endeavors made to enable war-disabled veterans become productive and play due role in the national programs are bearing fruitful outcome.
He told ERINA that disabled nationals in different parts of the region are improving their living standards through engaging in small and big-scale business ventures. They have so far managed to pay back 90% of the loan extended by the Association.
Reports indicated that about 100 war-disabled veterans in the sub-zones of Hagaz, Elabered, Asmat and Halhal are engaged in wood and metal works, bakery, gas station, millet grinding and other activities.
Mr. Dawit further explained that loan has been extended to more than 250 disabled persons who subsequently made investment in various ventures.
Various business enterprises at the expenditure of about 7 million Nakfa have been opened in the sub-zones of Halhal, Asmat, Elabered, Hagaz, Keren, Geleb and Adi-Tekelezan with a view to improving socio-economic wellbeing of war disabled veterans.
