Nacfa, 20 June 2011 – The decision to commemorate Martyrs Day in Nacfa at national level conveys special meaning, stated Mr. Idris Ali Shiker, Administrator of the town.
In connection with the preparations underway to commemorate Martyrs Day, he indicated that the main activities underway include the renovation of trenches in Nacfa, collecting skeletons of the gallant heroes, construction of martyrs monument and the construction of terraces, as well as carrying out reforestation activities on a 40-hectare reserve land stretching from Fidel Pe to Denden Mountain. He also said that students, local inhabitants and EDF members are playing active role in the on-going undertakings.
The Administrator further explained that renovation of the trenches and collection of skeletons of fallen heroes would continue after the Martyrs Day commemorative event. He added that the necessary preparations such as transport facilities and accommodations for the participants of the commemoration are being made.
Mr. Idris further explained that more than 200 thousand tree seedlings are made ready for planting during the commemoration of Martyrs Day in Nacfa.
