Asmara, June 15, 2011- Residents of Asmara have called for remedial action as regards long queues  and mix-ups being witnessed at annual car inspections being done by the Department of Land Transport.

Speaking on the issue, the head of technical affairs in the Central region, Maj. Mihreteab Tesfazgi, said that the inspection has become complicated because numerous owners chose to show up when the deadline approached, even though it was announced from the onset that the inspections would commence on January. He further went on to note that during the past months only a handful owners managed to accomplish their annual inspection duty.

One of the owners, Mr. Tekie Mengistu, on his part said that even though the queues have become hard to manage partly due to owners showing up late for the inspection, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the failure of the Department to come up with remedial action on time.

Many observers are calling for finding a solution to the long queues, which are obstructing movement around the area.
