Sub-Zonal Administrator Lauds Popular Initiatives Towards Supporting Martyrs’ Families

On top of the continued government assistance, the support being provided by the inhabitants of Tessenei sub-zone to families of fallen heroes is bringing about commendable improvement in their living standard, according to Mr. Tekleberhan Gebrewold, Administrator of the sub-zone.
Tessenei, 15 June 2011 – On top of the continued government assistance, the support being provided by the inhabitants of Tessenei sub-zone to families of fallen heroes is bringing about commendable improvement in their living standard, according to Mr. Tekleberhan Gebrewold, Administrator of the sub-zone.

He told ERINA that a number of martyrs’ families are being cared and supported by benevolent nationals and that visible social change is being witnessed.

In line with the initiatives taken to assist families of martyrs, over 3 million Nakfa was raised in the first phase which channeled for the rehabilitation of martyrs’ families through cart, cattle, shops and other ventures. Also in the second phase, a total of 2.3 million Nakfa was raised and disbursed for the rehabilitation of 148 martyrs’ families through the fields of their choice, Mr. Tekleberhan elaborated.

Likewise, 5,700 Nakfa was extended to each 104 families of martyrs who voluntarily relocated to Tessenei sub-zone from other regions last year. In this connection, he commended the inhabitants for demonstrating continued assistance and care to families of fallen heroes.

The benefiting martyrs’ families expressed deep appreciation for the benevolent assistance and stressed its significance in improving their standard of living.
