Concerted Health Services reduce Prevalence of Diseases: Minister

Concerted efforts in the provision of health services over the course of the past 20 years have significantly reduced the prevalence of communicable diseases, stated Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nurhussein.
Keren, June 16, 2011- Concerted efforts in the provision of health services over the course of the past 20 years have significantly reduced the prevalence of communicable diseases, stated Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nurhussein. In a tour the Minister conducted in 11 sub-zones of the Anseba region, she said that she observed the effectiveness of the health awareness programs conducted.
The Minister further stated that the prevalence of Malaria has been decreased by 80% in nationals who follow nomadic way of life, and that number of mothers who are delivering at health centers have shown a marked increase.
On his part, the head of administration of the Ministry of Health, Anseba Branch, Mr. Zekarias Ogbaslasie pointed out that the number of health-service rendering amenities in the region was very few back in the days, however, as a result of the Government’s efforts to increase healthcare in rural areas, access to healthcare has significantly increased.
