Prevailing Peace And Stability In The Nation Outcome Of Heavy Sacrifices Paid, Say Omhajer Inhabitants

The inhabitants of Omhajer expressed deep pride over the Eritrean people’s victory in reaching a promising stage through waging ardent struggle and paying heavy sacrifices to overcome hardships and inhumane atrocities of colonial forces.  Omhajer, 17 June 2011 – The inhabitants of Omhajer expressed deep pride over the Eritrean people’s victory in reaching a promising stage through waging ardent struggle and paying heavy sacrifices to overcome hardships and inhumane atrocities of colonial forces. 

The inhabitants recalled the atrocities committed in Omhajer in 1974, and explained that the Eritrean people have undergone bitter hardship and paid heavy sacrifices to enjoy the prevailing peace and stability in the country.

The inhabitants stated that a number of innocent civilians, including children, women and pregnant mothers were thrown into fire alive by colonial forces. In this connection, they indicated that the peace and tranquility they are now experiencing is the outcome of the enormous sacrifices paid.

Mr. Mohammed Mahmoud Jabir, who narrowly survived such atrocities 37 years ago and who is now the Administrator of Selam administrative area, noted the blessing of independence and expressed conviction that the Eritrean people would continue to foil enemy acts of hostility through firm unity.

Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Golij semi-urban center carried out development activities in patriots cemetery that was built in 1997.

The Administrator of Meskerem administrative area in the semi-urban center, Mr. Saleh Osman, said that such activities provide one with moral satisfaction, and that June 20 is a Day that reminds all nationals to renew the pledge to honor the trust of martyrs.
