NUEW Providing Training Courses To Wives Of Martyrs

The NUEW branch in Central region is providing various training courses to wives of martyrs with a view to improving their standard of living, according to Ms. Alganesh Adonai, head of administration and finance in the branch office. Asmara, 20 June 2011 – The NUEW branch in Central region is providing various training courses to wives of martyrs with a view to improving their standard of living, according to Ms. Alganesh Adonai, head of administration and finance in the branch office.

She explained that the Union is giving different training programs to women, especially wives of martyrs focusing on weaving and various handicrafts, as well as fashion designing for six months.  Besides, it extends a sewing machine in the form of loan to the beneficiaries, Ms. Alganesh added.

One of the wives of martyrs, fighter Freweini Russom, said that she has managed to improve her family’s living standard thanks to the assistance extended by the NUEW. Other beneficiary, Ms. Huruya Aman, stressed the significance of the training program in enabling them become self-supporting.

Reports indicated that the NUEW branch in the Central region provided training to 130 women, and that it is currently giving similar training to 30 women.
